Elijah was one of two Davison students named as top readers in their respective grade categories in the Genesee Intermediate School District's summer Read to a Million challenge. Another Top Reader

Evelyn was one of two Davison students recently named as a top reader in their respective grade categories in the Genesee Intermediate School District's summer Read to a Million challenge. Evelyn read 7,630 pages in the countywide reading challenge held June 1 through August 31. A total of 58,810 pages were read and logged by Davison students.

Kids First November recipient

Hahn Intermediate special education paraprofessional Mrs. Melissa Allen has been named as the November recipient of the Kids First award. Each month, administrators nominate a DCS employee or contracted staff member who best exemplifies what it means to be “Kids First.” Winners receive a $100 Visa gift card thanks to Mark Owen, owner of MEEMIC insurance, and a certificate. The winner is chosen at random.

Cardinal Spirit Award Winner

Katie Strickert, a student teacher at Central Elementary is the November recipient of the Cardinal Spirit Award. The award is presented monthly to a community member who is passionate and loyal in their support and service to the students and staff at Davison Community Schools. 

Intersession

Students visited Sloan Museum during the Fall Intersession.

Intersession Fun

The Fall Intersession was held October 28-31. The next Intersession is scheduled for February.

Gates Elementary was first called South Elementary when it opened in 1966. It was named for former Board of Education member Geraldine Gates following her death in 1968. Renovations were completed in that building in 2007.

Gates Elementary serves students in grades 1-4.
